Having Siding Installed? How To Prepare For The Project

If you're scheduled to have siding installed on your home, now's the time to take care of the prep work. You might not realize this, but there are a few things you'll need to do to get ready for the installation. Now that you're scheduled for the installation of your siding, read the information provided below. These tips will help you get ready for the big day.

Start With a Landscaper

Now that you're going to have siding installed on your home, you'll need to get your yard ready. The best way to do that is by hiring a landscaper. The installation crew will need plenty of clear access to your home Tall grass, shrubbery, and trees can actually hinder the installation. Before your scheduled installation day, have a landscaper come out and clear away anything that can get in the way of the installation. If you have trees or shrubbery that are resting against the house, have them trimmed down. If you have tall grass that's grown above the foundation, be sure to have that trimmed down as well.

Safeguard Your Wall Decor

If you're scheduled to have siding installed on your home, take steps to protect the decorations you have hanging on the walls. You might not know this, but the walls will shake quite a bit during the installation of your siding. If you have pictures and other decor on the walls, they might fall off during the installation of your siding. The best way to avoid damage is to take down the wall decor until the installation process is completed.

Make Space for the Dumpster

Before your installation crew arrives, they'll have a commercial dumpster delivered to your property. The dumpster will be used to discard the construction debris. If you don't have a clear space for the dumpster, you'll need to take care of that right away. For maximum efficiency, it's best to clear a space as close to the house as possible. That way, the installation crew doesn't have to spend too much time hauling debris to the dumpster.

Prep the Exterior of Your House

Finally, if you're scheduled for siding installation, be sure to prep the exterior of your home. This is especially important if you have shutters, awnings, or other items attached to the exterior walls of your home. Clearing the exterior walls will reduce the time that your installation crew will need to spend on prep work.
